The history of Holy City Lodge #150 began when 19 men decided to be part of something different than what they were in. They wanted to be a part of something positive. So with the help of PM James F Clark Sr, who was very instrumental in us finding what was lost, we found Prince Hall Masonry. On Nov. 11th 1994 we were Healed into this Prince Hall PHAmily. Since that time our PHAmily has grown, as members of our lodge formed our own Royal & Select Master Masons Council, Holy City Council #17. We also help revive The Holy Royal Arch Masons Chapter, Richard Posey #64 and the Knights Templar Commandery, James Dentley #65. We were very instrumental in assisting with the forming of our Sister Chapter, Pride of Holy City Chapter #150, Order of the Eastern Star and out of that, more history was made as we share the same name and number. We have adopted William Penn Elementary School and have done many great thing with them such as Black History Essay Contest, Halloween Safe Passage and End of School and Back to School Jams. We once formed our own Junior Craft Council, and out of that we had 2 young men who became Worshipful Master of our Lodge. Our history doesn’t stop there. We also had the honor of having 2 father/son members in the Lodge together. Had it not been for the son of PM Marcus Hazelwood’s going off to college, we would have had a Grandfather/Father/Son. That would have been great history as PM Marcus Hazelwood’s grandson is now curious about Freemasonry. Our Beloved Jesse Harris Sr became the first of our Lodge to join the KYCH with several few more of to follow. We also have the pleasure of having 2 Past Illustrious Potentates and a current Illustrious Potentate of Arabic Temple #44 A.E.A.O.N.M.S. from our Lodge. PM Dwayne Fitzpatrick Sr. (Currently an Imperial Deputy Marshal), PM Bill Callier Jr. (Currently Imperial Deputy of the Oasis of Chicago) and PM James Ross Sr served in the matter of 5 years. We have PM Tyrone Blount who has been appointed at the Grand level in 3 York Rite male houses, Past Patron Dwayne Fitzpatrick Sr who was appointed District Deputy Grand Patron of the 1st District of Illinois for Eureka Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, PM Ronald Hills and PM Torrence Willis who were also appointed in the Grand Lodge. These are just a few of our moments in history that make us historic.
